Bearing in mind the above-outlined underlying molecular mechanisms involved in oxidative stress-mediated damage over CF airway epithelial cells, we validated three clinically approved drugs that confer significant oxidative stress resistance in CF airway epithelial cells: the mTOR inhibitor everolimus [88], the α-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist doxazosin [89], and the spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) inhibitor fostamatinib [90]. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and cystic fibrosis.
