RYR1 and Malignant hyperthermia: Aberrant Ca2+ signaling from SR Ca2+ stores in skeletal myocytes has been identified in pig malignant hyperthermia (MH) due to a natural mutation of the ryanodine receptor SR Ca2+ release channel (RYR) and also in a mouse genetic model of increased sarcolemmal Ca2+ entry that leads to an SR store overload-induced Ca2+ release (SOICR) through RYR [30,31,32].
