Here, we found that the species of Mn can increase or arrest the expression of genes such as MT-CO1, MT-CYB, MT-ND4, and COX4I2 (Figure 4B), which are associated with glycolysis and glycogenesis, and oxidative phosphorylation, along with neurodegenerative diseases such as AD, HD, and PD [49]. The gene discussed is COX4I2; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
