Similarly, promising therapeutic advances have resulted from the observations that loss-of-function mutations of the angiopoietin-like 3 gene (ANGPTL3) result in decreased LDL-C and triglycerides [29]; and that loss-of-function mutations of the gene encoding apolipoprotein C3 (ApoC3) result in lower plasma triglycerides and reduced risk of coronary heart disease [30].
