Eight other cases carried one or more mutations in genes also found in uveal (Harbour et al., 2010; Martin et al., 2013) or mucosal (Hayward et al., 2017; Sheng et al., 2016) melanoma, but not in cutaneous melanoma: BAP1, SF3B1, or EIF1AX and hence were similarly suspect as misclassified. The gene discussed is EIF1AX; the disease is cutaneous melanoma.
