Also, we did not find difference in terms of CRP or albumin concentration among cachectic and non‐cachectic patients and controls, and this could be at least in part an effect of the small sample size and in part likely due to the high percentage of patients with an early stage of cancer disease; in fact, we enrolled patients at their first cancer diagnosis (new diagnosis) and that were eligible for surgery and did not receive any anticancer treatments. Here, CRP is linked to cancer.
