AKR1C1 and melanoma: Recent studies suggested that aldo-keto reductases (AKRs), a superfamily of NADPH-linked oxidoreductases, including AKR1C1, AKR1C2, and AKR1C3, are potential NFE2L2 target genes responsible for ferroptosis resistance via inhibiting lipid peroxidation in melanoma cells (Dai et al., 2020).
