Recent studies suggested that aldo-keto reductases (AKRs), a superfamily of NADPH-linked oxidoreductases, including AKR1C1, AKR1C2, and AKR1C3, are potential NFE2L2 target genes responsible for ferroptosis resistance via inhibiting lipid peroxidation in melanoma cells (Dai et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene AKR1C3 and melanoma.
