Platelets are capable of promoting phagocytosis and affecting inflammation responses of monocytes-macrophages during bacterial infection (Weyrich et al., 1996; Rodland et al., 2010; Carestia et al., 2019), and the inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α play a critical role in the outcome of candidiasis by recruiting activated leukocytes (Netea et al., 2015).Therefore, we further explored whether platelets had an effect on monocyte phagocytosis of C. albicans and the expression of inflammatory cytokines. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is bacterial infectious disease.
