APP and Cognitive impairment: Reduced neurogenesis has been previously been observed in APP/PS1 mice at 9 months of age (Taniuchi et al., 2007) and this result also suggests that long-term touchscreen training has the potential to not only promote neurogenesis in WT mice, but could also rescue neurogenesis deficits in AD mouse models, and thus have the potential to rescue cognitive deficits (reviewed in Shepherd et al., 2018).
