Firstly, we surveyed the miR-omes of colonic crypt cells with different Meg3 expression profiles using Apcmin mice (a strain that harbors a germ-line mutation in Apc, the mouse homolog of the human APC gene, which renders the animals prone to developing CRC); this work revealed that miR-708 is an important component in Meg3-related colonic stemness. The gene discussed is MEG3; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
