In fully adjusted models for age, sex and all diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors, each increase in IL-6 per SD was associated with 64% increased odds of accelerated 10 year cognitive decline (OR 1.64, p = 0.006), and each increase per SD in fibrinogen was associated with 69% increased odds of accelerated 10 year cognitive decline (OR 1.69, p=0.001). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and diabetes mellitus.
