Among the RBFOX proteins, which showed the most significant potential for binding to the motif (Fig. 5E), we focused our attention on RBFOX2, as transcriptomic data from the CCLE project [35] revealed barely detectable expression levels for RBFOX1 and 3 both in our reference model, MDA-MB-231 cells, and in other ER−/HER2− BC cell lines (Additional File 2: Supplemental Fig. 5B). The gene discussed is RBFOX2; the disease is breast cancer.
