Carriers of inherited pathogenic sequence variants (PSVs) in BRCA1 and BRCA2 are at an increased lifetime risk of developing ovarian cancer; recent reports highlighted that the cumulative risk of ovarian cancer to age 80 years was 44% for BRCA1 carriers and 17% (95% CI, 11-25%) for BRCA2 carriers [11]. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and ovarian carcinoma.
