Based on this knowledge, a number of studies have revealed the validity of systemic inflammatory markers such as albumin, neutrophils, lymphocytes, platelets, C-reactive protein (CRP), and also biomarker combination ratios [e.g., neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet–lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and CRP–albumin ratio (CAR)] as predictive factors in different cancers (8, 9). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is cancer.
