Zaahl et al. (2005) found that genetic variations in both the promoter region and intron 1 of the SLC11A1 were associated with esophageal cancer. Takashima et al. (2018) found that glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients with high expression of SLC11A1 displayed worse OS. SLC11A1 could be a promising predictor of the prognoses of GBM patients and used to develop effective GBM treatment strategies (Takashima et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene SLC11A1 and esophageal cancer.
