LncRNA Growth Arrest-Specific transcript 5 (lncRNA GAS5) is identified as a novel regulator of hypertension-related vascular remodeling (Wang et al., 2016) and also closely associated with cardiac fibrosis and cardiomyocyte apoptosis, as evidenced by over-expression of lncRNA GAS5 significantly attenuates cardiac fibrosis (Liu et al., 2019) and cardiomyocyte apoptosis (Hao et al., 2018) induced by isoproterenol (ISO). Here, GAS5 is linked to hypertensive disorder.
