Recently, it was shown that mutations and/or the phosphorylation of tau results in the deformation of the neuronal nuclear membrane and can disrupt nucleocytoplasmic transport (Lester and Parker, 2018) in FTD (Montalbano et al., 2019; Paonessa et al., 2019) and AD (Eftekharzadeh et al., 2018; Tripathi et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
