Patients with fatty liver were more likely to be men (80.90 vs. 50.00%, P<0.001) and urban residents (52.43 vs. 50.60%, P<0.001) and were characterized by a higher BMI, total cholesterol, creatinine, bilirubin, aspartic transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol compared with those without fatty liver (Table 1).
