Researches show that about 5–10% of melanoma cases are people who have genetic alterations or mutation in several genes including CDKN2A (Cyclin Dependent Kinase Inhibitor 2A), CDK4 (Cyclin-dependent kinase 4), BAP1 (BRCA1 associated protein-1), POT1 (Protection Of Telomeres 1), ACD (Adrenocortical dysplasia), TERF2IP (Telomeric repeat-binding factor 2-interacting protein 1), and TERT (Telomerase reverse transcriptase) that lead to the tumorgenesis [5]. Here, TERT is linked to melanoma.
