These findings are consistent with those of Ataseven et al. [35], Tacke et al. [27], El-Shehaby et al. [16], and Elbadri et al. [17] who reported that plasma ghrelin levels were higher in cirrhotic individuals with Child C. These findings contradicted those of Marchesini et al. [26] and Kalaitzakis et al. [36] who found that plasma ghrelin levels were unrelated to the severity of the liver disease. This evidence concerns the gene GHRL and liver disorder.
