Unfortunately, the clinical benefits of current HNSCC treatments, such as FDA-approved PD1 inhibitors (pembrolizumab and nivolumab), the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibody (cetuximab), and conventional platinum-based chemotherapy, remain unsatisfactory for patients with poor prognoses, largely due to the therapeutic evasion, resistance, and recurrence of HNSCC [19, 20]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
