This analysis showed that VIM+ICAM-1+ cells were similarly abundant in the LP in the normal and EoE esophagus, but that the number of VIM+ICAM-1+ cells detected in the epithelial compartment (EPI) was significantly upregulated in EoE (Fig. 4d and e). This evidence concerns the gene ICAM1 and eosinophilic esophagitis.
