For example, the populations of classical monocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, red blood cells (RBC), dendritic cells (DC), and lgG+ B cells from patients with severe COVID-19 were more akin to the ones from patients with severe influenza than the ones from patients with mild or asymptomatic COVID-19, while nonclassical monocytes and effector memory (EM)-like CD8 T cells were not (Fig. 5D–G, Additional file 1: Fig. S6A-C).
