Overexpression of DGAT2 in mouse liver causes significant hepatic steatosis as evidenced by increased hepatic TG levels but not insulin resistance (41), whereas in obese mice induced by high-fat diet or leptin-deficiency for 7 weeks, inhibition of DGAT2 with an optimized antisense oligonucleotide resulted in marked reduction in hepatic TG as well as blood TG, diacylglycerol, and free fatty acid levels (42). This evidence concerns the gene DGAT2 and fatty liver disease.
