In oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the expression of the glycolytic enzyme phosphofructokinase-platelets (PFKP) is significantly elevated under starvation conditions, and PFKP knockdown inhibits starvation-mediated glycolysis, autophagy, and EMT in OSCC cells, thus promoting the malignant progression of OSCC (18). The gene discussed is PFKP; the disease is oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
