High expression of several proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, including TNF-alpha, MCP, IL-6, and IL-1, have been found in brain tissues from autopsies of patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as PD and MSA [25, 26], suggesting that these cytokines are involved in the progression of MSA. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is neurodegenerative disease.
