The LPS-activated MAPK was shown to be a key driver of atherosclerosis by playing proapoptotic, proinflammatory, and antiproliferative roles via activating its downstream targets-MAPK-Activated Protein Kinase 2 (MAPKAPK2/MK2) and the Heat Shock Protein 27 (HSP27) [70]. Here, MAPKAPK2 is linked to atherosclerosis.
