In a binary logistic regression analysis with ischemic stroke or TIA as the dependent variable the combination of NIHSS at admission, fibrinogen, antithrombin, CRP, MMP-9, hyaluronic acid, and NSE was found to be best associated with MIS, resulting in a sensitivity of 91.8% and a specificity of 60.9% (AUC 0.84, 95% confidence interval 0.74–0.94) (Figure 3A). This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and transient ischemic attack.
