Investigating 80 epilepsy patients, who were already using new ASDs, and 13 healthy subjects, a study found that BDNF levels were higher in patients with focal epilepsy and new ASDs levels were negatively correlated with BDNF levels in serum and positively correlated with total quality of life scores in patients with multiple new ASDs (Demir et al., 2020). Here, BDNF is linked to focal epilepsy.
