Using a synthetic predator odor 2,5-dihydro-2,4,5-trimethylthiazoline (TMT) exposure protocol as a model of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in rats, Homiack et al. (2017) have shown that TMT exposure reduced phosphorylation of CREB in male, but not female rats. The gene discussed is CREB1; the disease is post-traumatic stress disorder.
