Furthermore, our examination of m6A and m6Am profiles in HFD and ob/ob mice, uncover the dynamic role of the m6Am modification in regulating obesity, showing clear metabolic involvement of altered methylated genes, including two fatty acid-binding proteins Fabp2, Fabp5. In addition, we identify that FTO is overexpressed in fat mice, and importantly downregulates its m6Am gene targets. Here, GOT2 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
