AKT1 and neoplasm: The AKTs identified to date mainly include three isoforms, AKT1 (PKBα), AKT2 (PKBβ) and AKT3 (PKBγ), which are highly similar in structure but differ slightly in the physiological functions they are involved in: AKT1 mainly mediates cell proliferation and cell cycle regulation, AKT2 primarily regulates cell migration, while AKT3 is involved in regulating the resistance of malignant tumor cells to chemotherapeutic agents [16, 17].
