Notably, several autoimmune diseases, including autoimmune hemolytic anemia, were found to coexist with CD in 22.5% of patients,[19] but they are rarely reported in advanced HIV diseases.[20] A previous systematic review [6] showed that MCD could occur at any CD4 count in HIV-infected individuals, and that the mortality rate was lower among those receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy. This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
