As reported in two meta-analyses analyzing the association of the polymorphism with BMI, although several studies failed to find any association or reported an inverse association between the 12Ala PPARγ2 variant and obesity, it seems that the Ala12 variant has been consistently associated with higher BMI (Masud et al., 2003; Tönjes et al., 2006). This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and obesity disorder.
