Somatotropinomas with AIP mutations lead to enhanced miR-34a expression, upregulated intracellular cAMP concentration, and reduced Gαi2, resulting in somatostatin resistance. Additionally, miR-34a limits the apoptosis rate. To assess miRNA expression, microarray analysis and qRT-PCR were used. The gene discussed is AIP; the disease is growth hormone-producing pituitary gland neoplasm.
