Mutational profile of skin melanoma is well characterized as well as those of CNVs, the latest of which can be used to differentiate between premalignant and malignant pigment cell neoplasia: Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) of CDKN2A (9p21.3) and MYB (6q23.3) as well as amplification of CCND1 (11q13.3) and RREB1 (6p24.3) can be routinely used in pathological diagnostics [4]. This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and cutaneous melanoma.
