In total, 17 cancer-relevant pathways were identified for all of these miRs differentially methylated in their genes in our study, including the MAPK, EGFR, ras-proximate-1 or ras-related protein 1 (Rap1), mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), and Ras signaling pathway, the Hippo signaling pathway, the PI3K–Akt signaling pathways, and an implication of events leading to chromosomal instability (CIN) and microsatellite instability (MSI). The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is cancer.
