RX821002 (an α2-adrenoceptor antagonist, see Table 3) administration, at the dose of 10 mg/kg via i.p. 2 h after TNBS colitis induction which was repeated daily resulted in a survival rate of 84.6% (compared to 70.6% in TNBS-treated group only) on day 7, as well as improved histological signs with a reduction in inflammatory activity, neutrophil infiltration, and MPO activity. Here, MPO is linked to colitis.
