Once established that the perturbation on EV release is a feature of AM-induced phospholipidosis and lysosomal impairment, we examined whether the implementation of lysosomal function by overexpression of the lysosomal master regulator TFEB could halt the increased EV release associated with AM treatment This gene induces lysosomal biogenesis and autophagy, preventing the intracellular accumulation of phospholipids as previously demonstrated [8]. This evidence concerns the gene TFEB and lysosomal storage disease.
