Next-generation sequencing of patient-derived specimens revealed that a loss of RB1 (a gene encoding RB protein) and TP53 (a gene encoding p53 protein) is a common denominator of genomic aberrations in NE/SC [1,30], although TP53/RB1 loss also occurs in CRPC adenocarcinoma at lower frequency [1]. The gene discussed is RB1; the disease is adenocarcinoma.
