Univariate analyses showed that being male, Chinese ethnicity, weight loss, abdominal pain or discomfort, jaundice, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, portal hypertension, history of blood transfusion, family history of malignancy, statins, antivirals (for hepatitis treatment), history of alcohol consumption, smoking, white blood cells (WBC), platelets as well as elevated levels of total bilirubin (TBil), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine transaminase (ALT), and creatinine levels were significantly associated with increased HCC risk.
