So far, case–control studies have shown that the APOBEC3A/B deletion is associated with a moderately increased risk for breast cancer in women of Asian descent23–25, while the findings among women of European descent are conflicting: Xuan et.al reported the APOBEC3A/B deletion variant to be associated with increased risk for breast cancer in Europeans26, however, subsequent studies did not reproduce these findings27–29. Here, APOBEC3A is linked to breast carcinoma.
