In the ARTEMIS-CTONG1509 multicenter phase 3 study recently published in Cancer Cell, Zhou et al. investigate the combination of the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) erlotinib and anti-angiogenic bevacizumab in treatment-naive Chinese patients with advanced EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).1 The primary endpoint of progression-free survival (PFS) was significantly extended from 11.2 months with erlotinib monotherapy to 17.9 months with the combination. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
