PDCD4 and autoimmune disease: Interestingly, a few CpGs were consistently among the top 5 most significant DMPs (stratified by genic annotation) in both production runs, such as a hypermethylated DMP mapping to the promoter of PDCD4-AS1, a long non-coding RNA that has been shown to positively regulate PDCD4, a tumor suppressor gene that has also been implicated in autoimmune disorders (Hilliard et al., 2006; Jadaliha et al., 2018; Figure 2C).
