Previous studies have shown that mitotic regulator inhibitors, such as balaceltib and polo-like kinase-1 (PLK1), are found to be effective in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents, such as low-dose Ara-C, for the treatment of patients with leukemia, AML, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and MDS-progressive AML (45–48). Here, PLK1 is linked to myelodysplastic syndrome.
