The bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-II or BMPR2 is a plasmatic membrane protein that transduces extracellular signals through the formation of heteromeric complexes, and their dysregulation plays a role during pulmonary hypertension vascular remodeling and endothelial dysfunction (Machado et al., 2003; D’Amico et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene BMPR2 and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
