Previous studies have shown that administration of low-molecular-weight fucoidan (LMWF) extracted from brown algae promoted the phosphorylation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) at Ser1177 and up-regulated the eNOs/NO signal of vascular endothelial cells, which significantly improved the vasodilation disorder induced by endothelial dysfunction and robustly reduced basal hypertension in Goto-Kakizaki type 2 diabetic rats (Cui et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene NOS3 and hypertensive disorder.
