AD has key neuropathological hallmarks, including extracellular senile plaques composed mainly of amyloid β1–42 (Aβ1–42) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) consisting of phosphorylated tau (p-tau) (Buckner et al., 2005; Jansen et al., 2015; Teipel et al., 2015; Demirtaş et al., 2017; Ishii et al., 2019).
