In conclusion, we determined the correlation between TREM2 and microglial activation in the progression of PD and demonstrated that the expression of TREM2 can inhibit the activation of microglia by inhibiting the p38 MAPK pathway; on the other hand, TREM2 can reduce the damage caused by the pathological processes of PD by inhibiting autophagy in the microglia, which is induced by inhibition of the mTOR pathway, and synergistically inhibiting the activation of microglia in the progression of PD. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and Parkinson disease.
