Importantly, average GFR in the right kidneys of TRPC6 KO DM + AC mice was significantly higher than in the right kidneys of WT-DM + AC mice (0.7 ± 0.1 vs. 0.4 ± 0.1 mL/min/g kidney wt; Fig. 5B), suggesting that TRPC6 deficiency may markedly attenuate the decline of GFR in kidneys exposed to both hyperglycemia and high BP.
